Adding job references is an important step in completing your Nomad Health Profile.
Selecting the Reference tab under your action items will prompt you to request a new reference, or upload an existing one.
This selection allows you to either upload references you have already obtained (that fit facility standards) or add new references.
Once you add a reference (whether uploading or requesting a new one), they will be in your Profile for as long as you work with us at Nomad Health. However, it’s important to note that references expire after two years.
You can only add a reference to your Profile if it connects with an entry in your work history. If you are trying to add a reference from a facility you have not yet created an entry for, the reference will not save.
How to request a new reference:
1. Choose your Profile from the top right drop-down menu or by clicking directly on your profile page.
2. Navigate to References and click “Continue” at the bottom
3. Select “Add a Reference.”
4. Add reference information in the appropriate fields, and click “Save” once completed.
Once you add a reference, Nomad Health will send an email to the reference, asking them to fill out a three-minute questionnaire.
On average, it takes the reference one to two days to respond. Please provide us with your references as soon as possible so we can quickly submit you to the facility and increase your chances of getting an offer!
Uploading an existing reference
If you have been traveling for years or have worked with different agencies throughout your career, you may already have completed reference forms from your past facilities.
These reference documents should include a clinical evaluation scorecard, which details skills such as:
- Attendance/punctuality
- Bedside manner
- Documentation skills
- Flexibility
These skills are typically rated on a scale ranging from “does not meet expectations” to “exceeds expectations.”
To be accepted by the facilities on our site, a supervisor, manager, or charge RN must complete these reference forms for previous travel, per diem, or staff positions within the past two years.
The uploaded reference forms must include the title and contact information of the reference.
Please note: This documentation must be a clinical scorecard, and we will not accept written letters from references or screenshots of references from your resume.
Accepted reference titles
On our platform, references are part of the application process but may not be requested at the time of applying. Some facilities have specific reference requirements that may require you to add additional references to the ones you have already uploaded.
If a position you’re applying to requires two supervisory references, you will need references with a title above charge RN.
Supervisory reference titles include:
- RN supervisor
- DoN
- ADoN
- Unit director
- RN manager
- Assistant RN manager
- Clinic manager
- CNO
- Nursing director
- Director of clinical unit
- Shift supervisor
- Floor manager/floor supervisor
- NP/nurse practitioner
- PA/physician assistant
- House supervisor
- APRN
In addition, there are reference titles we are unable to accept. These non-applicable references include:
- Coordinators
- Recruiters
- Educators
- Staff/Peers
- LVN / VN / PN
- Administrators
Facility-specific reference requests
When applying to jobs, you might encounter facility-specific reference requirements that differ from the Nomad Health baseline of two charge RN references within the last two years.
These facility-specific references include requirements such as:
- Two references from two different facilities totaling 12 months of experience.
- Two supervisor references, one from within the last six months and one from within the last 12 months.
- One charge RN reference and one supervisor from within the last two years.
If you are applying for a position on our site and need clarification on what they require for references, please contact one of our Support Navigators. We would be happy to provide clarification on what the facility's reference requirements are.
