What is a local placement?
A local placement refers to a work assignment where a clinician lives within 50 miles of the healthcare facility where they are applying. This proximity is significant because it allows the nurse to easily commute to and from work without the need for extensive travel or relocation.
Applicants must be more than 50 miles away for most facilities, however, some may require you to be more than 60, 70, or 80 miles away. You will be considered a local placement if you are under the required mileage per facility.
Once you are extended an offer, you will receive details about the position, compensation, benefits, and any other relevant information.
Why am I being considered local?
We calculate the minimum travel requirement based on the direct distance between your tax home address and the facility. Although google maps may reflect that you are more than 50 miles from the facility, you may be under that required mileage based on the direct distance.
Do all facilities accept local travelers?
Each facility we work with at Nomad selects whether they accept local placements. When applying, each job description should inform you if local placements are accepted or not.
If you want to see if a position accepts local placements or the local rate, please contact one of our dedicated Nomad Navigators! We would be happy to reach out to the facility for information on your inquiry.
